Upcoming events

Virtual Coffee Break

Tomorrow, May 25, is next first Virtual Coffee Break! It’s at 8:00 a.m. EST and I’ll be your host.

As always, feel free to drop in and out as you need to between 8 and 9 a.m., and stay for as little time or as long as you want! To make it super-duper easy, join by clicking the button below!

All of the 2023 Virtual Coffee Break dates are posted to the Community Calendar, and if you RSVP’d for this one, I invited you to the whole series.

Curate Your Work Like A Boss

Also tomorrow, at noon EST, Data+Women Amsterdam hosts a virtual Tableau User Group event designed to help you create the most effective portfolio possible. Lilla Rasztik and Irene Diomi share their best tips and tricks you can apply whether you’re just getting started or have a lot of work to choose from. RSVP here.

Hiring?

If you’re hiring or have a contact who is, please post to the #hiring channel on Slack and/or email Nicole. We have a few early-career members in particular who are looking for new roles, so let’s help them out!

The Iron Viz recording is available!

If you didn’t see Tableau Iron Viz yet, here’s the link to the recording (and it’s embedded below)!

Women in Data Vizzes

Some notable recent vizzes from women in the dataviz community. Nominate a viz for next month's newsletter!

From Mona Chalabi, this hand-drawn bar chart is super effective and sobering.

Lindsay Betzendhal created this beautiful map of CMS Critical Access Hospitals in rural areas. She leads #ProjectHealthViz, a great community project focused on healthcare data.

Community Asks and Offers

Sharon kindly set up this spreadsheet for community members to posts any asks (things someone in the community may be able to help you with) and offers (things you're willing to help community members with). If you'd like to participate, here's the link.

The first-ever Women in Dataviz Scholarship!

If you want to learn Tableau but cannot afford a training right now, or if you know someone who could benefit from learning Tableau but doesn’t have the financial means, be in touch! I’m offering two full scholarships to my course, Tableau for Data Analysis and Visualization on Maven. The next cohort begins on June 13. (Obviously, I’m also accepting paying students! My dogs have expensive taste! 😂)

If you teach a course, lead a training, or provide any other services that would be useful to individuals looking for a career in data and you have the ability to offer a discount or scholarship, please let me know. It’s rough out there.
